It’s all part of the process.
Going to a live audition or making an audition video can be a daunting task. I heard other actors say that they frequently got sick right before they left the house or before they started making that video – so it’s not easy!
For myself I don’t usually get that worked up; at least not to the point of feeling sick. And in the last year, plus some months, that I’ve been doing this in earnest, I have gotten to the point of liking the whole audition process very much.
You don’t need to get every role.
Of course not. And if you submit yourself out once per week or more it’s unlikely that there would be time to accept all of the roles should they be offered to you. So it’s more about the learning process than anything else.
Also, sometimes you may realize after the audition that you might not really want that particular role – especially when it’s a live audition. For instance when the production company has made significant changes to the target filming dates, or the plot line or perhaps the character you were hoping to portray has been re-written and you find you no longer relate.
They all have something to give.
Even if you feel (and were told) you were spot-on portraying the character, you can still come away with quite a bit. You may come to a better understanding of the other characters or of the location or of the story behind the story. It’s a long list of possibilities.
And what happens is that you come away with that new knowledge and can use it to continuing working on your craft.
You never know.
The future is a question mark for all of us, and sometimes paths cross again that you never thought would. There are thousands of actors, directors, producers, filmmakers and more, all looking to create great works. I’m already finding it interesting at how a familiar face can suddenly be in front of me.
So it’s a possibility that those you don’t work with today you’ll work with tomorrow or next month or next year. The acting community is large, but that doesn’t mean some of us don’t get to know each other!
An amazingly great experience.
All of my auditions and my work in productions have been positive. I show up well, bring a my A-Game and enjoy what I do.
I’m never going to let anything deter me. New castings are sent to me every day, so there’s always work to be had. I’ll reach my goals step by step.
Keep your dreams alive everyone!
